TURN
OFF THE LIGHT CAMPAIGN
Good morning everybody, now I want to tell you
about how to save the energy for better future and the simplest way to
do that is by doing this small act that can make a big impact for the environment, which
is turning off the lights when not used. First of all, I would like to say thank you to Mr
Satria for letting me to choose my own topics, which is turn off the lights
when not used. Why I choose that topics (act of kindness)? Because of 2
reasons, the first one is I often do that at school, almost everyday. And the
second reason is that act is the easiest way that can make a real impact for
the environment, just press the switch off and you already save your energy and
your money.
Why we have to do that? Energy, the electricity, is
there whenever we need it, so it's easy to forget where it comes from, or how
much it costs. Every year, we use more energy than we did the year before. In
fact, the amount of energy that we use has doubled about every 20 years. Much
of the energy is wasted by us by using it too much or not using it wisely. Energy isn't
free. We have to pay for the all the electricity we use. So wasting energy is the
same as wasting money and we know that's not a good idea! Wasting energy isn't
good for the environment either. Most of the energy sources come from non-renewable things that can't be replaced once we use them up, like coal and natural gas. Another
problem is that most forms of energy can cause pollution.
The steps that I’m going to take in diseminating my campaign to other
people is, first, by doing it directly (a real action) in my house or in a
public place, for example at school because I’m a student. Why? Because by
doing it oftenly, people will imitate my action that I did repeatedly and they
will be more care about their environment. And the second steps is by reminding
people to turn off the lights when not used through the internet, so a lot of
people around the world can make a big impact to make a better future, for
example saving their money.
The impacts that you will see when you do this act are, one, your
electricity bill will be reduced by almost 50%, so more people can become
prosperous. Two, your environment will be greener because the use of
non-renewable things reduced. And three, PLN or Country Electricity Company can
allocate electricity to other areas that still need more power supply, so the
electricity can be beneficial to other people who is more need it.
